HOW OTP TEACHES
Some things are taught. Others have to be experienced.
Across the five-level journey, OTP uses recurring learning elements designed to change how physiotherapists observe, touch, reason, remember and reassess.
These are not decoration around the curriculum. They are part of how the curriculum works.
SIGNATURE LEARNING ELEMENTS
A learning language that follows you through OTP.
Certain ideas return throughout the OTP journey.
You may meet them as a physical exercise, a visual map, a question, a comparison, a demonstration or a password.
Each one has a specific educational purpose.
As the levels progress, their meaning evolves with the clinician.
TOUCH
Half-Riyal Touch.
How little pressure does the hand actually need?
Half-Riyal Touch introduces one of the earliest questions in OTP: whether the clinician can reduce force without reducing attention.
It becomes an entry point into contact quality, perception and listening through the hand.
PERCEPTION
Before / After Hand.
The same hand. A different amount of information.
Participants return to their own palpation at different moments throughout the learning experience, creating a direct comparison between how the hand perceived before and what it can perceive after.
The point is not to prove that the hand became “better.”
The point is to make change perceptible.
CONNECTION
Thread Map.
Symptoms rarely arrive with a map.
Thread Map trains the clinician to follow relationships across the body without assuming that every relationship is causal.
It represents the shift from isolated findings toward connected clinical reasoning.
REASONING
Locked Box.
Not every clinical answer should be given immediately.
Locked Box creates deliberate moments where information remains incomplete until the clinician has observed, questioned and reasoned far enough to earn the next piece.
It protects the process of discovery from premature answers.
OBSERVATION
Live Hand-Cam Demonstration.
Hands-on teaching depends on seeing the hand clearly.
Live Hand-Cam gives participants a close, shared view of contact, positioning and subtle manual details during demonstrations.
Clear hands-on observation - without crowding around the treatment table.
PERCEPTION
Did you notice it?
At one point in the learning experience, something changes.
Most participants are not told to look for it.
Later, they are asked whether they noticed.
The moment exists to demonstrate a simple idea: the nervous system can register information before conscious attention decides that it matters.
AN OTP SIGNATURE LEARNING ELEMENT
Osteopathy Passwords™
Created specifically for the OTP learning journey.
Three passwords belong to each OTP level. Across five levels, they form a memory framework for the complete OTP learning journey. They are retrieval cues designed to bring an important clinical idea back when it is needed.
3 Passwords per Level × 5 Levels = 15 Osteopathy Passwords
Memory is part of clinical integration.
Knowing something during a course is different from being able to retrieve it months later in practice.
The passwords create simple retrieval anchors across the journey.
At the end of each level, participants are challenged to remember the passwords they have collected.
At the Masterclass, the complete set returns.
This is one of several signals that can help show how deeply the participant has integrated the OTP learning language.
It is not an exam, and password recall is not the sole measure of competence.
They do not disappear after Level 1.
OTP Signature Learning Elements are designed to recur, evolve and gain meaning as the participant progresses.
What begins as an exercise in attention may later become a clinical reasoning tool.
What begins as a simple phrase may later retrieve an entire clinical principle.
This is why the five levels are one journey rather than five independent courses.
